Just Published: Harris Seeds' New 2010-2011 Home Gardener Catalog

The Home Gardener catalog contains hundreds of vegetable and flower seed varieties including many new seed varieties and supplies for the 2011 growing season.

ROCHESTER, NY, January 05, 2011 /Home and Garden PR News/ -- The 2010-2011 Harris Seeds Home Garden Catalog introduces many new items including over 30 new vegetable varieties that have outstanding taste and excellent garden performance. New vegetable seed varieties include Sweet Baby Jane carrot, Cucino cucumber, SimplySalad mixes, Cajun Belle Pepper, Gordo pepper, Butterfly squash and Premio tomato. Harris Seeds has also added many new flower seed varieties to their product line, including four garden award winners. New introductions include Marigold Moonsong Deep Orange, Fuseables (new technology that combines multiple seed varieties in one pellet), Petunia Easy Wave Neon Rose, Zahara Double Series, and Echinacea PowWow Wild Berry.

Since more gardeners are using organic methods, the catalog now includes 167 untreated and organic vegetable varieties, and 185 untreated flower varieties. Featured in the organic offering are the new certified organic greenhouse-grown onion transplants. Also new to the Harris Seeds organic product line is Worm Power - a certified organic fertilizer produced by millions of earthworms in an award-winning, state-of-the-art facility in New York's Finger Lakes region. The organic vermicompost contains an abundant, balanced microbiological community that raises soil fertility and improves plant performance.

Harris Seeds has been a trusted supplier of vegetable seeds, flower seeds, seed starting and gardening supplies since 1879, and home gardeners will find their old favorite products in the catalog along with these exciting, new introductions.

All products in the catalog will be available at www.harrisseeds.com. Gardeners who are not already on Harris Seeds' mailing list can request a catalog online or by calling (800) 544-7938.

The Harris Seeds company began its catalog operation in 1879. It evolved from the efforts of Joseph Harris, an English immigrant who became extremely successful in the selection of superior strains of vegetables and grains.

Joseph Harris settled in the Genesee Valley Region of Western New York in the 1850's. His success as a seedsman led to the beginning of Harris Seeds in 1879. The company became widely popular because of his basic business philosophy - "offer my customers a quality product at a fair price and they will return." Harris Seeds is an active member of the American Seed Trade Association, the National Garden Bureau and the Mail-order Gardening Association.
