Aquamax Sprinkler Systems Makes Dealing With Drought Easier For Dallas Residents

Record temperatures a drought have made it important to be careful watering the yard. Dallas sprinkler repair specialists Aquamax sprinklers have been working flat out to help residents keep up with changing water restriction schedules.

BOCA RATON, FL, September 15, 2011 /Home and Garden PR News/ -- Record temperatures and an ongoing drought have made it more important than ever to be careful watering the yard. As of September 2011, the six main reservoirs supplying Dallas are now approximately 20% depleted, and the North Texas Municipal Water District requires Stage 1 water restrictions to be applied when the depletion drops to 35%.

Dallas city residents are already barred under city ordinance (Chapter 49, September 2001) from watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. from April 1 to Oct. 31. That ordinance has been in place since 2001. To keep out of the danger zone, the city has already asked for voluntary cutbacks. Residents have been asked to water their parched lawns no more than twice a week. Those with even-numbered addresses were asked to water on Sundays and Thursdays only. Odd-numbered addresses were asked to water only on Saturdays and Wednesdays. The penalty for abuse of the watering restrictions can result in a $150 fine issued through the resident's utility bill.

Dallas Sprinkler Repair specialists Aquamax have been working flat out to help. Owner Robert Maxvill said "Many older and mechanical automated water systems do not allow programming for different times throughout the week, making the water restrictions very difficult to comply with. We help out during a sprinkler repair, by replacing outdated timers with modern easy-to-program electronic controllers."

The situation in other areas around Dallas is already more difficult. The City of Plano already has a Stage 2 watering schedule (when water levels are 45% depleted). The move to Stage 2 was a result of the loss of water supply from Lake Texoma due to Zebra Mussel infestation, increased demand during prolonged extreme heat, lack of significant rainfall, and planned construction at one of the District's water treatment plants. Restrictions were initially based on six different watering zones, That plan allowed for each zone to water one day a week in the morning and one day a week in the evening. However that plan proved difficult for residents to follow, and Plano now operates a watering schedule based on numbered addresses. Under the new Stage 2 plan, residents with addresses that end in an even number may water on Mondays and Thursdays. Residents with odd numbered addresses may water on Tuesdays and Fridays. In both instances, residents are prohibited from watering from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

If you have an older mechanical timer system that will have trouble keeping up with the constant changes, contact Aquamax Sprinkler Systems to install a hassle-free replacement controller.
